I applied through a recruiter. The process took 2 days. I interviewed at Ventara (Reston, VA) in Aug 2015
Interview
Multiple interviews in a row. One on one for each of them. First was a personality interview with senior management (CEO). Second was with current Technical Lead delving into technologies, breadth of knowledge, and in many cases specifics dealing with current programs. The third was a very detailed technical interview on the specific technologies used for their program by a senior developer. This process can be misleading in that they want an architect who is conversant with management activities, yet must be 100% up on the specifics of their program's tech base. This will be a difficult role for them to fill, more so because of the level of specificity they require. It also required working with customer on-site multiple days a week, and back at the office the rest of the time. Extras required were to shape the technical roadmap, guide more junior staff, prototype & advise on new technologies, participate in company tech advancement (Brown bags, seminars, etc). This is for a 160 person company. The sheer number of hats required for this position were daunting. During the interview I was able to elicit enough information from the interviewers to determine that the previous person in this role had quit, and that the position had been unfilled for 6 months.
