I applied through university. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Wells Fargo (Charlotte, NC) in Nov 2024
Interview
Interviewed for the Risk and Decision Science (RADs) track in the QAP program. First round was simple resume behavioral questions with a few classical ML trivia questions at the end related to logistic regression. Second round was a 75 minute Hackerrank OA. It consisted of 5 programming questions, 4 math & stats questions, and 1 data analysis question. Next was a take home 72 hour case study that required building a joint auto loan credit decisioning model using data provided, and to also write a report and create a presentation for the final round. The final round was in-person in Charlotte and was 1 hour of simple data sci behavioral questions on the first day and 1 hour of presenting your presentation on the second day. Questions were asked throughout the presentation, focusing on the decisions that you made as well as the assumptions you had. Overall a relatively straightforward and simple process. Everyone was kind and helpful throughout the process.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
First round: "Why is the logistic regression model considered linear?" Online Assessement: The programming questions consisted of multiple choice choose the R code chunk that produces this given data result. No DSA leetcode style questions were asked.
Final round: "Can you tell me about a time when you had to communicate something complex to layman stakeholders?" "Can you tell me about a time when you dealt with a conflict in a team?" Questions about decisions made during feature selection and about handling class imbalance in the models used.
I applied online and completed two interview rounds, including an in-person Superday in Charlotte on November 19. During the Superday, one interviewer asked several incorrect technical questions and initially disagreed with my answers, but the second interviewer disagreed with him and technically supported my responses.
After that, the first interviewer became largely disengaged and concluded by saying, “don’t be upset if you don’t get the offer.” Overall, the process felt uncoordinated. Although we were told decisions would be shared in early December, HR provided no follow-up or response afterward, effectively leaving candidates without closure.

Question 1
Linear algebra, differential equations, simple coding
Tough but fair interview, took about 2 weeks, first round phone interview with HR and second with head of team, asking more technical than behavioral questions. Started with talking through resume and then about different relevant topics.
