The interview itself actually went well, the person interviewing me came across as a bit inexperienced, but I appreciated the conversation we had. What disappointed me was everything that came after. I never received so much as an email letting me know I wasn't moving forward, and my follow-up messages went completely unanswered. I understand that interviewers are often juggling a high volume of candidates, but a short note acknowledging someone's time would go a long way. I say this sincerely and without bitterness: I'm a human being on the other side of that table. I prepared for this interview, took time out of my schedule, and showed up in good faith. A little basic courtesy, even a templated rejection email, costs almost nothing and makes a real difference in how someone feels after putting themselves out there. Behind every application is a person who hoped, prepared, and gave you a piece of their time and energy. Holding onto that sense of humanity isn't just good practice, it's what keeps a company grounded as it grows, and it's a small thing that can leave a lasting impression, for better or worse.
