Recruiter in Singapore was very rude and unprofessional. At first I thought it was just my experience, but after I read some comments here, I realised she has been doing this for years and others had similar experience with her.
First round Interview was over zoom. Recruiter started asking some usual questions. But as I started replying, she had no patience and would not wait for me to finish my sentence and would not let me speak but rather ask further questions. Often the questions were to reinforce her own assumptions like ‘since you do not have experience in this’ whereas she never let me talk about my experience at first.
She came across as arrogant and immature and lacked basic interviewing skills.
I had a very positive initial call with an HR representative whose energy and openness made the conversation enjoyable and informative. The second round was with the director, during which I presented my portfolio and received a thorough overview of the team, their working style, and the role. The director expressed satisfaction with my presentation and indicated I would progress to the next stage.
However, a week later, I received an email from a different HR person proposing to move me forward but for a lower-level position. I requested clarity about this lower-level role, including its description and expectations, but did not receive any response for two weeks. Eventually, I got a call from the same HR person who had not communicated with me before, offering a salary range that was less than half the market rate. They also mentioned a standard annual bonus of 5% and no stock options due to the company being unlisted.
The interactions felt unprofessional to the point where I suspected they might have found my contact info online without proper engagement. Despite my repeated requests—both over the phone and by email—for more information about the role, I have not received any further response.
