Scope of Work:

As a Jamiyah Foodbank Warehouse Assistant, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth and efficient operations of the warehouse by managing inventory, organizing storage and maintaining an orderly warehouse environment. This position is responsible for adhering to food safety protocols, ensuring the proper handling and storage of items while upholding hygiene and sanitation standards. Additionally, the warehouse assistant is tasked with maintaining the cleanliness of the facility, including the regular upkeep of Chiller and Freezer units and storage areas to preserve food quality and safety.

The role also involves supporting logistical operations by efficiently loading, unloading and distributing food aid and items to the beneficiaries, donors and partners. You will uphold the values on integrity, compassion and professionalism in all tasks, ensuring that the warehouse contributes to the overall success of Jamiyah Singapore.

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Report punctually to the officer-in-charge and receive daily task assignments, ensuring full adherence to given instructions.
• Complete all assigned tasks within the designated timeframe to maintain operational effectiveness.
• Efficiently and accurately receive, sort, pack, and organize food items, supplies, and other donations in the warehouse, ensuring proper classification for accessibility and distribution.
• Regularly monitor stock levels and verify that all items are stored in appropriate conditions following food safety guidelines.
• Maintain a structured and organized warehouse layout, ensuring that goods are properly racked and stored to maximize space utilization and facilitate smooth movement, retrieval, and inventory tracking.
• Implement and adhere to First-In First-Out (FIFO) and First-Expired-First Out (FEFO) principles to minimize food waste and ensure optimal stock rotation.
• Conduct regular cleaning and maintenance of refrigeration units, chillers, air ventilators, and other storage areas to ensure compliance with hygiene and safety protocols.
• Dispose waste properly in covered bins and maintain a clutter-free environment to contribute to workplace safety.
• Ensure that warehouse floors remain dry and clean at all times, promptly addressing spills and debris to prevent accidents.
• Assist in the safe and efficient loading and unloading of trucks, ensuring the timely and accurate delivery of food aid to donors, sponsors, and beneficiaries.
• Escort Food Bank trucks for the collection and distribution of food and supplies, ensuring smooth transportation logistics and adherence to scheduled routes.
• Foster teamwork and support collaboration among staff and volunteers to enhance distribution efforts.
• Ensure full compliance with the Singapore Food Agency (SFA) food handling safety regulations, maintaining high hygiene standards in handling, storing, and distributing food supplies.
• Adhere strictly to warehouse uniform policies and maintain a professional demeanour at all times.
• Proactively track near expiry food items and work with the team to implement timely redistribution strategies to reduce food wastage
• Ad-hoc tasks and duties as assigned by the Food Bank Manager, demonstrating a flexible approach and willingness to support the organization’s operations as needed

Job Requirements:

• Minimum of Secondary or “O” Level education.
• Ability to follow instructions and communicate effectively with team members and management.
• Meticulous and detail oriented in handling inventory, supplies, and warehouse tasks.
• Capable of performing physical tasks such as lifting, loading, and unloading materials.
• Able to maintain an organized and efficient warehouse, ensuring that all goods are properly stored and easily accessible.
• Capable of working collaboratively in a team environment, supporting colleagues and volunteers.
• Basic ability to operate warehouse equipment such as pallet jacks, barcode scanners, and weighing scales to support efficient inventory management (training will be provided).
• Familiarity with basic food handling and hygiene principles to ensure compliance with Singapore Food Agency (SFA) regulations (on-the job training available).
• Driving license not required, but would be advantageous.
