Pros

401k match is good Health Benefits good but diminishing

Cons

Company is in a process of what they call RENEW which is outsourcing and moving jobs to Latvia for cheap Labor. Everyone is miserable working all hours of night (just check Teams). Company spent the last year thanking everyone for working through the pandemic while behind the scenes planning laying off most of IT and S2P. I just read today where a CEO who passed away said when his mill burned down, "I'm not throwing 3,000 people out of work two weeks before Christmas", GREAT Leader of people. Cabot?, well they lay people off to line their pockets (company is recording record Revenues), guess it wasn't the people who worked through the Pandemic?

Pros

The company benefits are decent.

Cons

In my opinion several people in management of this company go back to the early days when discrimination against minorities and the gay community was OK. It feels like these ideals are still in place in many areas within the company, especially with some people in mid and upper management/department head positions, as well as other employees, who feel that management's views make it ok. The safety department will spend a year or more on a campaign to get rid of mercury thermometers or sharp objects in drawers, while taking major risks with people's health in terms of chemical exposure, etc., if it will cost to much money. Still the type of company your Dad could have worked for in the 60's or 70's.

Pros

- Working at Cabot gets you a lot of exposure to many different segments, functions and teams. - There are plenty of opportunities to learn new skills and education. Cabot will often host professors and researchers to talk about the latest trends in industry or science, the seminars are often open to everybody. - They will often pay for webinars or short courses to help you gain knowledge and help you perform your job better -Great opportunity to work in a high-tech environment with a lot of great people -They offer a very generous 401(k) benefit.

Cons

- There are almost no opportunities for advancement. - Pay is below market value in all entry level positions. - They value more degrees and credentials rather than experience and accomplishments. - It's a very politicized environment for everything (promotions, approvals, strategy, etc) - Getting clear on expectations and speaking straight is not a priority, it's a very secretive organization. - There are a lot of egos and a lot of the decisions are made by people who have no clue what is going on -Knee jerk reactions are very common in the company and a lot of programs and strategies get started due to a knew jerk reaction -Their approach to safety is mind numbing and bothersome, everything is surrounded with red tape so that even simple tasks become time consuming and inefficient
