Pros

This only concerns the Sydney Office. Your work will have an international dimension with some opportunity to travel The hours are reasonable but when required you will be asked to work late or in the weekend from time to time The experience will fast track your career opportunities and your marketability You will work with some of the best industry experts

Cons

Average to poor remuneration Misalignment of bonus incentive Demeaning rather than constructive feedback Up or out culture No HR support staff

Pros

The other employees (analysts, support staff, some management) are what makes this place bearable to work. Your experience working at Castalia largely is determined by which manager or "team" you are assigned to work for. You get exposure and experience from here that you can then use to find a better job with better pay. Management knows this and seeks young, intelligent people to work for them, and they work them hard, knowing that they will eventually leave.

Cons

This company thrives on negative reinforcement. Many feel/felt that nothing they did was ever good enough, and that you are constantly working to prove your worth. The turnover rate is incredibly high. Now instead of hiring analysts, they opt to hire people on as interns to test them out before giving them a permanent position.

Terrible Place to Work!

Pros

The only upside to working for this small consulting firm is the fact that you get a lot of exposure to infrastructure consulting and PPPs. You will be able to leverage those skills into a better infrastructure consulting- related position in the IMF, World Bank or maybe even Wall Street if this specialized area of focus is something that appeals to you.

Cons

Terrible management and firm culture. Upper management's motto is to take advantage of the current job market and hire great talent from Ivy League schools, Georgetown etc. for extremely low pay. The work culture is extremely profit-oriented and not one that allows employees' professional growth. Upper management creates an extremely negative atmosphere that hurts employee morale and employee turnover is therefore very high. Most current employees, including me, would grab the chance leave Castalia if it were possible to secure a job offer elsewhere. Compensation is not competitive and the culture is one that is exploitative than nurturing.
