I have been working at Chope full-time for more than a year

    Pros

    - The culture here is quite relaxing and chill - Colleagues are good to hang out with - Work-life balance

    Cons

    - Favouritism, a huge problem. People who get promoted are not based on their performance but their closeness to their managers. Lots of talented colleagues come and go because of this. Some managers are really bad at managing the team and cause lots of workplace politics which drags down the efficiency and morale. - Not a place to help you develop your career

I worked at Chope full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Autonomy and trust in employees. Casual and chill, people have good EQ generally. Good learning environment (rough seas make good sailors).

    Cons

Little focus and resources dedicated to product, design and engineering. Business is fast-paced but development is slow-paced, impeded by technical debts. Have to deal with a large backlog. Lack of visionaries in the company, roadmap is volatile, no clear focus.

I have been working at Chope full-time

    Pros

The company culture is one of Chope's best trait. There is not much layers and things move pretty fast. The people are also a fun bunch to hang with, will say that they hire people more for their EQ. Teams are quite lean, so it is a good opportunity for junior levels to learn and get their hands dirty. However for senior positions, there might be a lack of career advancement due to the little capacity for managerial role. But this is also because of the company scale.

    Cons

Managerial positions are usually filled with people who lacked maturity in decision making. They might be people who has been in Chope for a long time or various reasons but certainly not leadership capabilities. As a result, the team direction might not be the best. Office tension also can felt because of the lack of professionalism in the management, where certain cliques thrive and the ones that are being left out (sometimes good ones) will eventually leave. Hiring process is also not very professional as it is not done through HR but mostly dependent on the team management, which i said earlier, is not capable enough. Favoritism is prevalent in this company.

    I worked at Chope full-time

    Pros

    - Office is conveniently located in the heart of the CBD - Flexible working hours - Exciting to be working with local restaurants to drive their sales - Not many layers of hierarchy and things progressed quite quickly

    Cons

    - Passive aggressive manager who was not supportive, and leadership qualities were sorely lacking. Instead of encouraging collaboration and fostering a supportive and engaging environment, this particular manager took a different approach, the focus was on blaming and mistakes, combined with impatience and lack of emotional agility, it is best to steer clear. That being said, lots of lessons to learn from this style of management, because this is not the way forward to create a high functioning team with great synergy. - Not expecting to be spoon fed all the information but training lacked structure, and expectations were unclear. - Not the most welcoming environment, some senior management members clearly had a tight knitted rapport with one another.
