So, so much wrong here

Pros

Young staff, close proximity to public transit, downtown SF location

Cons

There are major flaws in: - company strategy - product market size (basically maxed out at current client base) - transparency between leadership and employees - ability to work your way up the org chart if not one of leadership's favorites - rampant employee turnover - company culture (will describe fully below) Cleantech Group has the cash flow of a startup with the stuffy culture and self-identity of a massive corporation. It is also difficult to figure out what the long term growth strategy is, as it is quite clear that the core product offering of the company is fundamentally not compelling. Rather than rethink the top down strategy of the company, leadership has decided to remedy the problem with abrupt reorganizations (including brutal layoffs and random promotions), opaque communication down the extremely wacky org chart, unattainable sales quotas, and vague yet harsh feedback. These problems have led to the most rampant employee turnover of any company I have heard of and a blatant sense of unhappiness in the office. The environment is toxic. STAY AWAY BY ALL MEANS.

A sinking ship

Pros

close to public transit, friendly staff with mixed backgrounds, medical benefits, flexible work schedule

Cons

Management is running this business into the ground. The CEO is the epitome of an out-of-touch executive officer. The rest of the staff mean well, but are not appropriately compensated for their work, neither in salary nor in terms of professional development. Deadlines are unrealistic, and working on weekends and 'till 4am during the week is the norm. The CEO claims he prioritizes work/life balance, but turns around and hypocritically states he doesn't care if a death in the family has occurred: work is the priority. This team lacks the horsepower, capital, and foresight to make their product succeed. Strategy is haphazard, with a charge-what-they-will-pay pricing. After a slew of hiring/layoffs, the environment here is toxic and turnover is high. Do yourself a favor and STAY AWAY.
