Pros

Fast Paced No Down Time You Will Keep Busy

Cons

Very Low Pay for years of Experience (almost and insult to the person receiving the job offer) The company is way way understaffed in key areas. Too many people telling you what to do and interrupting you to work on other tasks. Then you get questioned why the first task wasn't completed or completed on time. 0% work/life balance! ALL WORK!!!! Come home from work and log back into work and continue working. A lot of OT in order to meet the 80% Billable Rate Requirements. There is no other to do this but work OT every day and on Weekends. 24x7 on Call every other weekend New Installs and Upgrades usually scheduled for weekends (Friday-Sunday). Again no family time!! No time to take training during the year unless you do it on your own time (if you have any from not working)

Pros

Leadership listens to all employees and takes measures to react appropriately to feedback. The clientele is hand-picked by the company owner Rob... Rob has a good feel for who would be difficult to work with and doesn't do business with them as a rule. They do tons of things to keep employees engaged like breakfast on Fridays, company outings and trainings. The office environment is very good. In the consulting group, everybody is smart and personable, which makes sense. Also, all travel is arranged by the admin staff, and all projects managed and scheduled by the Project Management staff. Consultants simply show up, run the training sessions, document next steps, and build relationships with ComTec's clients. There is more to it but those are the key functions. I'd also like to mention that they subscribe to a style of internal communication that promotes unity, standardization, and bright lines around responsibility areas. Does the company walk the walk? They are sincerely trying, and I think are finding much success with the approach.

Cons

Big caveat here, I was recruited as a remote employee since I could not relocate. The negatives have more to do with the WFH lifestyle, which might be positives for others. Not seeing my coworkers and clientele face-to-face left me depressed and unmotivated. If that doesn't bother you then these turn to positives. Most clients prefer little travel at this point since they pay for it... they'd rather have extra consulting hours instead through video conferencing. It didn't work for me. The pay is a bit behind the market BUT in this department, consultants are billable and as long as they fulfill their weekly billable hours goal, they can work as much overtime as desired. One week I hit my goal, put in a few OT hours, and bought myself a new jigsaw I needed. That's a powerful card to have. For someone with a lot of time on their hands (say for example, an empty nester who's done travelling a ton) could pad out their bank account quite nicely.
