Pros

As an external consultant, I see many companies and the team at ACHP is both smart and hardworking. There are a lot of "sleepy" associations in Washington, D.C....ACHP is more like a startup.

Cons

Any small organization means you have to be flexible and work on a variety of projects.

Pros

If you like your manager and have a good relationship with them, you will likely have a decent experience here. Hours are very easy and you can expect a consistent 9-5 with a moderate work load. You’ll also get to meet some very interesting people in the healthcare policy space.

Cons

A lot of expectations outside of the job description such as planning events and conferences, which can be a lot of work if you haven’t done it before. Not a lot of resources for compensation or project work. Senior leaders are very strict about certain rules and don’t allow much flexibility with WFH. The office is very quiet, not a whole lot going on despite strict in office requirements. Because ACHP is non-profit, all financial information is publicly available online in the form 990 if you’re looking for salary information or company financial outlook. There’s been a high turnover rate in recent years that’s likely due to low compensation, poor benefits, and responsibilities given to employees that are outside of their job descriptions.
