It's a sales job. At the end of the day, you need to remember your metrics are everything to the management. It can be a little soul crushing being a number, but it's the way these jobs are. Unfortunately, in my time, I saw more and more individual metrics appear without much support from management in maintaining all of them at once. The company wants one thing boosted, everything else suffers, and it becomes a balancing act on a canoe. (Careful not to capsize!)
As a result, it can be very stressful at times, especially since not every customer is happy to see you. The key is turning those disgruntled frowners into happy customers, and nailing sales in the process. It's a delicate balance and it can be frustrating until you get the right groove going. Even then, you're bound to hit some bumps along the way.
