Pros
Regular paychecks, Pension, 401K matching, healthcare, paid vacation, paid education, employee resource groups. Occasionally, I got to work from home.
Cons
They don't value older workers, I'd planned on working another 5 years, but they told me if I didn't leave in 2021, I'd have no healthcare subsidy in retirement which would mean an additional $1200+ per month in retirement, even though I was promised healthcare in retirement when I was hired. They also took away a week of vacation in my last years. Work life balance was very difficult for several years, working 14 hour days as a manager. I worked sales for several years also, they had to bring in psychologists because of the toxic work environment caused by management pressure on sales quotas. Your evaluations are usually done yearly so they are a complete surprise as to what your supervisor thinks of the job you did all year because they give you no indication of how they perceived your performance all year. They tried to improve this situation by making you review your peers and supervisor but people aren't always helpful in their feedback. They try to be too nice because it's easier than being honest. Newer employees don't get pension or healthcare subsidies in retirement.
