Cons
Look at how much the C-suite has shuffled over the past five years. You hear it from everyone: new leaders come in and immediately try to change everything. It becomes a constant cycle of reorganizing by territory, vertical, or employee size, with little real progress. There’s very little stability unless you’re in a leader’s good graces. Performance often feels less about what you’ve accomplished long term and more about what you’ve done for someone most recently. Success is heavily influenced by who your director is and how “liked” you are within that group. The numbers themselves can be misleading. While some inbound leads do close quickly, those typically go to favored AEs. Most deals are long, difficult grinds. The reality is masked by deals being marked as closed-lost while still actively worked, then reopened later when they’re ready to advance—creating an illusion of performance that doesn’t reflect the day-to-day experience.
