Pros
If you enjoy speed in execution without strategy dell is the place. fast paced with lots of multitasking, still has a bit of start up streak. No nonsense direct talking employees and management. Good place for the short run experience and name on the resume. The salary is competitive.
Cons
The company has become large and global but still tries to operate as a start up. There are no HR processes or management accountability. People get burnt out due to speed without clear direction. The company is caugh in the low opinc business and is not able to scale up vs. HP/IBM and on the lower end Accer is coming strong outside of US at 3% Opin....so Dell is stuck. There is no clear direction from the current incompetent leadership in Asia which grew due to the fast growth in the past but do not have any real management experience. They have become global leaders in title but have no global experience or desire to interact and grow global talent. Some US managers in Asia witht he worst employee TELL DELL (360 feedback) get promoted. After the expats have tasted the cushy overpaid life in Asia they do not want to go back. If you are an ASIAN or FEMALE leave becuase you will not grow within Dell all the top management spots are reserved for Americans from the US no matter that they have never in their life travelled outside of US. The company has become top heavy in Asia with too many overpaid American leaders on big PERKs. I heard from friends not a single American EXPAT in the recent reorg. was impacted though they are the most expensive with allthe perks (Golf club memberships; Bonus; Kids school at Private International schools; Tax equalization; Housing Rent in the most expensive areas)
