Pros
The salary can be great if you're a top performer. Gartner does great sales achievement trips and they are a lot of fun. The people who work there are good folks as fun to work with. Gartner has an excellent brand - so you get a bit of a jump start in the selling process. Gartner offers excellent training and a comprehensive on boarding training which is extremely helpful and a strong foundation for future success.
Cons
Professional growth for sales people stinks. Gartner is very good old boy network / fraternal when it comes to promotions and hiring for new positions from within. Women get paid less and promoted less often then men. Most managers are poorly equipped to manage people. They lack charisma and the skill to lead. The managers that are selected for their jobs are believed to me good process managers. The sales database is a time waster and there is a lot of manual work and duplicate processes. This job is a 2-4 year gig.
