Pros

Absolutely no egos or petty politics - I sat across from a Senior Director and in front of a VP (who reports directly to the CTO), and neither viewed me any differently because I was an intern. No meeting I attended had even the slightest hint of political bickering. Extraordinary benefits and pay - All interns get free luxury housing and those that work in Sunnyvale or Kirkland get free food too. However, even if you're not in those locations, there's subsidized lunch ($5 a meal) and always tons of snacks in the office. Coming to pay, it's definitely competitive with other companies (at least with respect to internships). RemoteOK - I worked from home about 3 weeks out my 10 as an intern. Almost every team has a few people that are entirely remote (both US-based and international). WFH is fully integrated into GoDaddy. In fact, I doubt you could find the same level of work-life balance at any other company. Extremely solid business - GoDaddy has $735M in annual free cash flow. Translation: this company is incredibly rich and won't be going away any time soon. So don't be worried about cash crunches or layoffs.

Cons

Lack of technically challenging work - Let's face it, products to small businesses is not exactly cutting-edge work. Also, 99% of teams operate at the application layer (i.e. no infra-level work here). That being said, all engineering teams do follow standard practices like code reviews, design discussions, agile, etc... Leetcode interviews - GoDaddy is one of the many companies that uses these algorithmic interviews even though they have absolutely no relevance to the work you'll be doing on a day-to-day basis. Hopefully this will change in the near future, but I wouldn't count on it.

Pros

I am able to be my best self in the environment I work in. I am encouraged to ask questions and come up with solutions to problems - often the identification of a problem doesn't have a clearly prescribed solution - My leadership allows me to be proactive and come up with more ideal solutions than 'just what works'.

Cons

This is a large company, and mileage may vary. Bringing your best self should be a requirement for all positions in all companies.

Pros

Pros of working at GoDaddy in the beginning (now long gone as of mid-2024): Good pay and solid benefits that made me feel taken care of Fun, caring culture where I actually felt valued by the company Friendly US-based teams and supportive managers who had my back Easy tools and happy customers that made my job way less stressful All those values that made GoDaddy a great place to work have been completely wiped out by corporate greed, heavy outsourcing, and a total lack of consideration for the employees who were actually making them money.

Cons

Cons of working at GoDaddy as of mid-2024 (what replaced the old good stuff): Low pay with shrinking benefits and commissions that make you feel undervalued and stressed Toxic, fear-based culture driven by corporate greed where employees are treated like disposable costs Heavy outsourcing to cheap overseas teams with unsupportive managers who throw you under the bus Angry, frustrated customers and broken tools that make every day exhausting and way more stressful All those old values that made GoDaddy a great place to work have been completely wiped out by corporate greed, heavy outsourcing, and a total lack of consideration for the employees who are actually making them money
