Pros
I really enjoyed the benefits available, including the PTO time. The discounts at Hilton properties was by far my favorite and best perk I have ever had at any job. I also was really a fan of the career track. Once you were in a position for six months you were eligible to apply for open roles. I also particularly loved my property's empowerment and backing of the front desk, to avoid having to escalate guest issues to management by default. I genuinely enjoyed the work I did at each of the Hilton properties I worked at. I was never dreadful about the work day ahead and enjoyed how each day brought something new, despite performing the same task on end.
Cons
Pay required me to have a second source of income to survive. I was put on furlough in March 2020, after August our property's general manager stopped sending monthly updates. Those updates helped me feel connected to my career. I never heard from my supervisors or peers during my during my furlough. I was still a few months into my role by the time my furlough came about, however I thought I would still get an update or check in from my team. It made me feel really disconnected from a job that was positioning me for what I thought was going to be long a career with Hilton. It took the human element out of it for me.
