Pros

Training Development Networking Experience of corporate Small functions so likely to work closely with senior management

Cons

CULTURE A toxic place to work - your manager will watch the way you walk and talk and will ask for feedback from everyone you work with and every piece of feedback will be used against you. This organisation takes performance management too far and gives you feedback on everything you do and it will get petty and personal. It is a very corporate environment, everyone is very conservative, closed-minded, judgmental and politically ignorant, expect to hear homophobic remarks and criticisms of the working class - this organisation is very backwards. If you are looking for a fun, friendly and open-minded place to work it is not for you. All they care about is efficiency and profit, they pretend they care about their 'team members' with an attempt to create a culture that recognises people but they only do this to improve their productivity, if they cared about their workers they would pay them above the minimum wage and would have a work-life balance policy. LOW PAY - EXPLOITATION This organisation exploits graduates who have university degrees and give people 'internships' as an excuse to pay them less money and to give people less employment rights, even though these internships are not internships at all; they are full-time jobs. What is even worse, these internships are often PA roles, an example of a lack of transparency. HIERARCHY The organisation is very hierarchical and your retention will depend on whether your subordinates like you. The VPs will get paid 90k+ bonuses and the contractors will get paid £10k less than the contractors down the road. WORK-LIFE BALANCE No work-life balance, these managers get up at 5am and work till 11pm, they have no life outside of work and have no time for exercise or interests. People who have entry-level jobs will work 8am-8pm and will also have little time to be with friends or will have no hobbies outside of work. This organisation expects you to work as efficient as a machine and demands you to make no mistakes, if you make any mistakes they will threaten to terminate your employment. Expect to receive other outrageous demands. MEANING If you want to work somewhere where you feel that you are adding value to the world, do not work here - you will be an active part of capitalism (making the rich richer and the poor poorer). This is a global organisation which is sucking away the profit from small businesses and local communities. Even if they pretend they give back to the communities through charity, they are still exploiting workers through low pay and are erasing local hotels and economies. You are only helping the owners and VPs become richer.

Pros

Great staff and lowermanagement. Last general manager was unfriendly and not very helpful.

Cons

I was supposed to get long tenure status for lifetime friends of family with my veteran status. Worked at Hilton 9+ years. Supposed to get 1 year for my veteran status (according to the handbook at that time) which would make 10 years. HR supposedly turned in application in August 2024. I even followed up and was told they were working it. It's been almost 2 years and haven't heard anything yet. Very disappointed and dissatisfied. Guess I won't be staying at Hilton Hotels.
