Pros

1. Lots of good humans here. I especially like the wide variety of life experiences. I hope as we get bigger, we keep taking risks in hiring to bring in more high potential people with atypical backgrounds. 2. Love my manager. 3. With the growth and breakneck speed of the company, you get so many learning opportunities just by doing your job and keeping up with company communication. I've been able to work on really interesting, high-impact projects, and I'm confident that this will set me up for success in the future, where it's at HubSpot or elsewhere.

Cons

Like most workplaces, there are some politics and there are some jerks. There's a fair amount of preaching around how we don't stand for politics and don't hire jerks - this seems a bit silly. They exist. Would love to see us be better at holding people accountable when they poison the well.

Thanks for your review and for the great list of reasons you love it here. Your push on guiding principles and traditions is a good one---we are actually revisiting a bunch of our traditions (HELM, IHELM etc) to see if they actually do scale, so if you have specific input, send it my way, would love to hear it. My goal for People Ops is to create an environment where brilliant jerks aren't tolerated, and where we reward people who are great teammates--it's an imperfect process, but we are working really hard to make you proud there. Thanks again for growing your career here, and for taking the time to write this up. -Katie

Pros

The teams you work with are phenomenal. The knowledge combination between an internal customer facing teams, engineering product development teams, and Sales are unmatched.

Cons

Excessive use of PIPs to oust employees after multiple high revenue launches, with no explanation, actual documentation, or factual data. Reviews have been adjusted to allow for terminations post pre-approved leaves. Salaries are a joke. You are always in a cover yourself mode 24/7. Management reviews are consistently a 2 or 3 out of 5 no matter what. If a team decides you aren’t in the group, management will put you on a “unofficial” PIP without telling you, in order to surprise you at a later date. Even if they are unfounded. Beware of possibility of negative backlash post launches. They will feel the need to assign blame ( such as for timelines or issues related to bugs). Regardless of performance or level of involvement. This is an enormous company with many large paths for career advancement. But micro management is rampant, leaving little room for doing the daily expectations of your actual role. This degrades your opportunities for career advancement.
