Pros

Flat out...the people. Nielsen is not only home to brilliant data scientists, but it also has a rich history of fostering an inclusive and collaborative culture across the entire organization. So, you are not only working with bright talent but your coworkers are also kind.

Cons

Unfortunately, the company's "strong pivot" and the current equity firm owner's approach to decimating the talent pool across all divisions has significantly altered Nielsen's ability to service its clients and has negatively impacted the company's culture. We are talking about award winning performers that have been with Nielsen for years. So, if you're looking for great company culture, sadly Nielsen is no longer one of them. And I don't anticipate that changing until the hedge fund owners move on. Plus, if you're one of the last ones in, you can expect to be the first ones out...and I hear they changed the severance policy to one week for each year of employment. On the flip side, I would highly recommend hiring anyone hit by the last 4 layoff rounds (there have been 4 in less than 15 months!)

Pros

Absolutley nothing. Which is a tragedy, because Nielsen was once an absolutely great place to work. I wanted to retire here. The culture used to be great, and I really loved being a part of this place. I loved my team, my management, and the people. Then along came the current CEO who is the classic example of a person who knows the cost of everything, but the value of nothing. He took over and ran the company full speed ahead in to the iceberg. And to try and save the sinking ship, he laid off literally thousands of highly experienced, highly trained, and highly engaged people to replace them with fresh overseas hires who know nothing about the company and expect them to be trained from the ground up to replace literally centuries of collective expererience and client relations. It's a disaster. This CEO shouldn't be trusted to run a lemonade stand.

Cons

Everything. Pay, job security, culture, management. Nothing is good here anymore. Don't take a job here unless you are truly desperate. And even then, it should only be as a stop-gap until you can find something else.
