American groups are mired with cronyism. Terrible managers and senior employees can sit tight and get away with not doing much work (not sure why, there were many instances where massive screw-ups should have led to corporate governance, but nothing ever seemed to happen). Tons of turnover in the junior levels because of this.
Salaries are not competitive given the expected work. 10% of the days that I spent working at this company were 16+ hour days, the next 15% were 12 hour days, the next 25% were 10 hour days, and the remaining 50% were 9 hour days. Whenever this was brought up during compensation review, we were ignored or told that the company was trying to lower its finance costs/Revenue numbers. Maybe you should try harder to expand that denominator or even look for some of that dead-weight I mentioned before.
