Pros

Worked in R&D for many years. Great products and brilliant engineers to work with. The day to day work is great as you never know what you will be working on. Cross-functional teams are very helpful and will bend over backwards if you get to know them. PTO and Prior Volcano Management was great.

Cons

Morale is down on all levels and departments no matter how hard management has tried. There are a tons of projects to work on but not enough resources so everyone is stretched very thin causing people to leave and be stressed out. Management made many bad choices from 2015-2017 and everyone in R&D is paying for this now. Tribal knowledge has now been retiring and no incentive to keep engineers in Rancho. Many good engineers have left who know the process, the product, and the design very well. Pay is terrible compared to other companies in the area. Philips management was brought in with the merge and it has not been good. most are just destroying the team and thinning out to move jobs to Netherlands. Philips is a great company but there is no expectation for them staying in Rancho Cordova which makes everyone worried.

Pros

- Easy commute if you live north of Seattle/Bellevue - Decent cafeteria - Decent compensation

Cons

- The level of apathy amongst colleagues is off the charts. Many people are simply coasting and collecting a paycheck. When you try to be a team player and pick up the slack, you simply become a target for blame. - Due to the extremely lax "return to office" policy, the office often feels quite empty when there is plenty of work to be done. Being onsite M-F often leads to more work with little support. - There is a culture of public shaming, with several meetings every week dedicated to project leads targeting individuals to make up for their own lack of technical understanding.
