Pros
Even though the company has grown substantially, management has done a great job of ensuring to maintain a small company feel - all of them have an open door policy and most of the time they are seen walking through the office with a smile. Management practices what they preach and don't just talk about it. This attitude flows throughout the company: very positive, team-focused (everyone at Tableau is part of one team). Fun events.
Cons
Tableau has everything going for it - except salaries, which are WAY below market. The company has fantastic medical benefits, 401k match (but it's only $1500/year) and stock - which used to somewhat make up for dismal salaries, but with the recent stock drop, isn't adding much value anymore. Attrition seems to be on the rise as a result. Advice to new hires: negotiate the salary you want up front (don't accept promises that increases will be forthcoming during the annual review process - unless you get this in writing in your offer letter). Employees have been complaining about compensation since I've been here - I often hear management discussing the need to focus on this in order to be better in line with the competition, but I haven't seen any evidence that they are planning to make adjustments in the near future.
