1) Concerns About Newly Hired Tech Leadership – In my experience, some recently hired technology leaders (e.g., engineering directors and managers) seemed to lack the technical depth or leadership skills needed, 2) Showmanship Over Skill – Visibility and self-promotion appear to be rewarded more than actual technical skills. 3) Misalignment in Senior Technical Roles – Several individuals in senior technical positions (engineering directors, managers, principal engineers) seemed misaligned with the skill expectations of those roles. 4) Shifting Influence of Hyderabad-Based Teams – Major technical decisions came from the Hyderabad-based teams, but this influence appears to have diminished over time. Advice to Management A few external factors may be beyond your control, but one area that is firmly in your hands is ensuring that the right senior leaders are placed in the right roles. Strong, capable leadership at the top can significantly reshape team confidence, technical direction, and overall culture.
