Pros

-Everyone genuinely cares about one another. I don't think I know anyone else who is so happy to go to work and see their coworkers succeed. -Very strong leadership who knows what they're doing and have successfully built a company before -Mission-driven company that lives it's values. -Transparency about when we are and aren't doing well. Monthly all-company meetings when we all get walked through our revenue numbers, introduce new hires and promotions, and review general changes with the CEO -Commitment to "giving first" -Guru is truly seen as a technology leader in the Philadelphia community and is a well-known player (often considered one of the best tech companies in the city) -Hires with company values as our #1 priority. As we've scaled, we've been able to maintain our incredibly positive culture because of that. -Very agile; good work is rewarded with more responsibility regardless of tenure or age -Commuter benefit money rocks

Cons

-No 401k match -Our health/dental insurance isn't the best -Sometimes it is unclear why certain things are budgeted for while other things aren't, but that's any company I guess - Things change a lot. If you don't enjoy changes and uncertainty, this might not be a good place for you.

Pros

I have been at Guru for over a year and the honeymoon phase continues. In fact, it keeps getting better and better! The leadership team lives our core values everyday and their positive and respectful energy flows down through the rest of the team. My colleagues are smart and fun, people that I want to hang out with after work. Even my prospects have mentioned how incredible the whole Guru team is to work with. Our product continues to stand out and disrupt the market. We continue to land exciting logos. Being in sales, it keeps me motivated that Guru is solving a critical knowledge problem for customers and they rave about how much they love us. It is also nice that the sales leadership team has continued to invest in ongoing training and making sure the whole sales org is on the same page. Additionally, I have seen the leadership team take feedback from employees to make Guru an even better place to work, ie: adding a 401k, updating the health plans, and improving the maternity leave policies. The leaders really care about the team! I also feel very well supported by our engineering team. They take prospect / customer feedback and move quickly to enhance product features. I'm also excited that we are moving into a bigger and brighter office space in San Francisco very soon. Our little satellite office is growing up!

Cons

The San Francisco office is definitely feeling growing pains. We are bursting at the seams with not enough desks or conference rooms. The timing for a new office starting next month couldn't be better. Open floor plans can be distracting and loud, so hopefully the new office has a better flow and quieter work spaces. On the sales team we are consistently testing out new messaging and demo flows. This could be good or bad depending on your personality. If you find changing environments exciting, and enjoy trying new things and giving constructive feedback to leadership on what is working / not working, then Guru sales will be fun for you. If that will put you outside your comfort zone, Guru is probably not a good fit. The benefits package has been improving YOY and hopefully it will continue to get better and more competitive as we grow. One day a 401k match would be amazing!

Pros

The culture is great. Employees have a lot of flexibility and the company treats us well. The Guru product is strong.

Cons

Not many cons at all, but as of now I'd say one would be the lack of a 401(k) match.

Pros

Everyone is SO welcoming and supportive! I've never worked in a more team-supportive environment, across pods! Employees band together to support one another on projects, events, and other initiatives. Guru has an open floor office space that allows for easy access to leadership. Everyone - across all levels - is transparent in what expectations are, and for giving feedback. Additionally, Guru offers a chill, dog-friendly office; tons of diversity and opportunities to give back to the community; cold brew coffee on tap + snacks; flexible hours and working options; and lots of fun employee events such as live music in-house, bowling, and trivia.

Cons

Guru does not match 401k, but for its size offers great benefits. The floor plan is an open space, so it can get noisy at times but employees often use headphones to combat noise.

Scaling beautifully

Pros

Simply put—growing a company at this rate and size is never easy, but Guru manages to make it feel elegant. Leadership is consistently transparent about where we shine, where we have polishing to do, and our opportunities for the future. There are many opportunities to step up and lead new initiatives, explore new areas of the business, and embrace personal career growth.

Cons

We're starting to hit the point of being a "big enough" company that the small details in benefits matter. Overall our benefits are great, but I do wish we had a traditional 401k match.

Pros

There are two major pros when working at Guru (at least for me). First is the company culture. A lot of effort goes into keeping the company connected and motivated across two coasts. Guru encourages a healthy and fun culture from a variety of angles. Everything from office happy hours, to live music events, to 1:1's with the founders and leadership. They hire for culture, and that makes a huge difference when you're seeing your coworkers every day. Second is their dedication to professional growth. Guru encourages hiring within and allowing employees to explore areas of interest. As long as you've got grit and show your dedication to your work, there are no guardrails set up to keep you in a specific role. Beyond these two, there are so many more benefits. If you're interested in working with talented, fun and kind people at a high growth company, I don't think it gets much better than Guru.

Cons

If I have to list a con for the benefit of anyone interested in working at Guru, it would be around financial and healthcare benefits. As a startup, they don't match retirement contributions or have top tier healthcare. But I think this is to be expected from a company of this size and age. For what they do provide in these areas, it's certainly sufficient.

Kindest people ever

Pros

Guru has grown immensely over the three years I've been here, but the one thing that has stayed constant is people caring for each other and the common goal. It's easy to think knowledge management isn't the sexiest tech field, but with a team as committed, driven, and thoughtful as Guru it really feels like the most exciting work out there. The company is also invested in growing the diversity long before getting too big to fix it and ensuring their employees have lives - a major plus in comparison to most startups.

Cons

There is a lot of change and strong opinions, so if you can't engage in an exciting conversation or defend your points of view it might not be the exact match for you.

Pros

Transparency from senior management is great, everyone is friendly and welcoming, very laid back office environment. Great location in Philly.

Cons

Sometimes engineering gets handed projects with little direction, but we are working on that. No 401k match and they require you to be here for 3 months before opening an account for some reason.

Pros

- There is a strong foundation of trust between management and individual contributors. Employees are trusted to get their work done and empowered with the tools and guidance they need to do it. - Leadership is transparent about company priorities and challenges. - Every department is focused on how we can continuously improve. - Formal performance reviews twice a year with opportunities for compensation increases - Year-long leadership training offered to every employee - Professional development stipend - Excellent work/life balance, unlimited PTO (and lots of encouragement from leadership to use it)

Cons

- There were layoffs in October 2020. It is a startup, so job security is more limited. - No 401k match
