Pros

Cons

I used to think salary increments were great but those get you fired eventually...because you are "too costly" yet THEY offered the increment and signed off on it....The food was great..amazing chef but costly endeavour...why do you complain about burn rate on powerpoint slides yet you know very well you dont need the extra office space, Watamu(IYKYK) was working just fine and Oh.......10X engineers when we all know that we have several kenyans who can do a better job at a third of that pay..Ruby on rails is not mandarin...just javascript on steroids..even kids learn that this days :) It is the lack of strategic thinking that puzzles me however... 1. Why do engineers earn 500k plus, similar to some companies listed in the New York stock market, yet in other organizations..people developing the SAME product earn way less.. 2. Why do you stereotype people? Do you need people who get meaningful work done or people who vybe with you... 3.Why is management so ignorant to how KPIs are met..50,000 users..I mean c'mon dont get me started on the targets that got people doing self signups for clients using their own phones just so that they can be the better "pod" . The number of fake IDs and phone numbers on that platform lol...its a syndicate not a start up. Anyway, good luck.

Pros

To simply put it, I wouldn't wish the opportunity to work at Kwara even to my worst enemy. Anyway, the following are Pros of working at Kwara - 1. Inspirational Micromanagement: Revel in the joy of having your every move closely monitored. Who wouldn't want their boss breathing down their neck, offering "helpful" suggestions every three seconds? 2. Fear-Driven Motivation: Who needs encouragement when you can rely on fear to get things done? The threat of losing your job or facing consequences will surely bring out the best in you! 3. Nepotism Galore: Cherish the family-like atmosphere where promotions and special treatment are reserved for those with the right last name or connections. Competence, who needs that? 4. Innovative Office Politics: Witness the intricate dance of power plays and office politics. It's like being part of a thrilling chess game where you never know who'll stab you in the back next! 5. Constant Drama: It's like being part of a soap opera! Gossip, rumors, and petty conflicts make every day a thrilling rollercoaster ride of emotions. So much more exciting than doing actual work! 6. Endless Opportunities for Overtime: Who needs a life outside of work, right? Enjoy the chance to sacrifice your personal time for the company without any extra compensation. It's a gift that keeps on taking! 7. High Turnover Rate: Experience the joy of making new friends, only to see them leave a few months later due to "unrelated" reasons. It keeps the workplace dynamic and ever-changing!

Cons

I am not perfect but at Kwara is where I learnt that not all that glitters is gold. Fortunately, it will take you 5 minutes at most to realize that the smiles, hugs and sweet words at Kwara are as fake as the company's mission and vision. The Top management is delusional and the only one with brains was the strategic manager. Anyway, the following are Cons of working at Kwara - 1. Bullying and Harassment: Be prepared for instances of bullying, harassment, or discrimination. Which will deeply affect your mental health, leading to depression and even post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). 2. Fear of Retaliation: Due to the bullying culture at Kwara, employees fear speaking up about issues or concerns due to the risk of retaliation or reprisal. This fear of standing up for oneself will lead to feelings of helplessness and exacerbate depression. 3. Excessive Workload: Be ready for heavy workload with unrealistic expectations that will overwhelm you, leaving you feeling constantly stressed and anxious. The constant pressure to meet unattainable targets will lead to a sense of failure and hopelessness, which may contribute to the development of depression. Clearly you can all see that depression is an occurring theme in working at Kwara but I promise you, it will only get worse. I personally feel that criminals found guilty of murder should be convicted to work at Kwara instead of life in prison. Anyway, let us continue - 4. Work-Life Imbalance: Be prepared to work for excessive hours or being given unrealistic expectations to be always available. This imbalance can leave little time for rest, relaxation, and personal life, leading to burnout and contributing to ? Yes, you guessed right, Depression! 5. Limited Growth Opportunities: The absence of clear career advancement paths or opportunities for skill development can lead to a sense of stagnation and unfulfillment. The feeling of being trapped in a dead-end job can contribute to a sense of hopelessness and guess what ? You know it, Depression! 6. Social Isolation and Loneliness: The negative dynamics of the toxic environment at Kwara will lead to you isolating yourself from colleagues to avoid further stress or conflict. This social withdrawal can lead to feelings of loneliness, which can be a contributing factor to ? Guess what? Yes, say it with me, DEPRESSION!

Pros

Food is nice Learn about different business functions

Cons

-UNCERTAINTY: A LOT OF PEOPLE GET FIRED with no remorse and without proper cause. Worst place to plan a career - the TEAM STRUCTURE CONSTANTLY CHANGES and results are expected immediately. Your job description and role can change any time without your consent - EXTREMELY TOXIC in every way ! There's a lot of unhealthy competition and a lot of company politics- The culture forces people to bring each other down. There are no consequences for poor treatment of employees by leads and the wrong people are punished. It is very mentally taxing - There is A LOT of MICROMANAGEMENT and negative pressure with constant threat of being fired and unfairly being put on PIP -EXPLOITATIVE :They hire people on short term contracts ! Most people are hired as trainees and after working under immense pressure their contracts are not renewed - NO WORK LIFE BALANCE: expected to work late nights and weekends with last minute notice : no overtime pay or or taking an extra day as stated in the contract - They don't recognize people who work the hardest. It's mostly about personal relationships *Take 5 star reviews with a grain of salt*

Your feedback is accepted and heard! For sure we never meant to create any type of toxic environment or to create unfair performance rules. Our Performance Flow is set based on realistic targets that envision completeness and achievements per any kwaran responsible for. A proper project management is required in order to gurantee success and it may lead to a confusion with Micromanagement. We understand the frustration and we have been improving our training sessions and communication skills to avoid this misunderstanding. The changes we face in the company generally is a need to adapt on external demands, specially with market turn around and macro economic situations. We are more than happy to receive any type suggestions via hr@kwara.com
