Pros

Fun coworkers and students. Very rewarding work. Good management at our center.

Cons

I was there when the office was still figuring out covid protocol, so it was very stressful at times. Lots of callouts.

Pros

My coworkers and the consultants I work with are incredible people. We all have each others back when it comes to the stresses of work and watching the students grow has been a consistent highlight of my job. Teaching 1-to-1 means you really get to know them and help kids grow in ways they never thought were possible.

Cons

The burn out is very real. During COVID, the company transitioned to online platforms and have since reversed their desire to expand their online platform almost completely seemingly on a whim (digital note taking back to paper, making teaching from home less and less of an option, etc.). Company policy is so concerned with appearances to nitpick instructor outfits yet they are hesitant to address issues such as the furniture/materials actively falling apart. The center ought to be bigger given how many students, instructors, consultants, admin, and parents are crammed together in the space. The admin team has some pretty awesome people but they're caught between a maelstrom of meetings, tasks, and being the first line of defense from whatever is falling down the corporate ladder -- in the end, they still have to enforce those policies. Over the course of three years, there was one raise.

Thank you for your feedback and continued contributions over the past several years. We’re glad to hear how much you value your team and the meaningful work of supporting students one-to-one. We also recognize the concerns you’ve raised and understand the importance of supporting staff well-being and retention. Your perspective is appreciated and will be shared with leadership as we continuously work to improve the workplace for our learning center teams. Thank you again for your review.

Pros

A structured, professional work environment. You and your coworkers are vetted and approved with actual rigor.

Cons

Lack of upward mobility, raises, and incentives for professional growth. Additionally, staff are trained in behavioral-cognitive programs for teaching that have no basis in peer-review science. The only scientific study on the effectiveness of these programs that exists says that results are similar to other more affordable programs, all of which are better than no treatment at all. All other studies on the programs’ efficacy were authored and run by the founders Pat Lindamood and Nancy Bell. Nancy Bell is the current CEO. The programs cost families as much as a mortgage payment every few months. They have massive incentive to be seen as legitimate, but families are better off finding an ABA-based study program.
