Pros

-Some clients are incredible people - most of the team is amazing (under LT)

Cons

- Completely sold out to private equity (moving away from values) - long hours, low pay ($70K for 50 hour work weeks) - does not provide the benefits seen at other, similar firms - This organization is very, very white for an "equity-focused" org

Impact-Focused or Image-Focused?

Pros

MGT does a phenomenal job recruiting talented subject matter experts to fulfill roles across its portfolio groups.

Cons

Senior leaders are more concerned with their self-images and personal agendas than managing their teams or focusing on client-facing initiatives. Impressing the CEO is the number one priority, which leads to unnecessary fire drills and hours worked to accommodate the lack of time/project management. Team members are expected to be available 24/7 to complete last minute tasks. Meetings are inefficient and consistently run over time. Leaders are not held accountable for meeting deadlines or completing their assigned tasks which then fall to others without consequence. “Impact” is a term that is highlighted and central to MGT’s mission. However, emphasis is not placed on making a true impact…with clients or the communities “served” by the fulfillment of projects. Opportunities are lost due to the lack of authenticity and the desire to increase revenue rather than truly understand what is required to support potential clients to achieve the impact they are seeking.

Awesome People

Pros

As long as you aren't directly reporting to the CEO, this is an awesome place to work. The people are smart, dedicated to their clients, and display teamwork at all times. The client work is very rewarding. The more we got into education projects, the prouder I was to be a part of the company.

Cons

The CEO is the main reason I left. I didn't report directly to him but his different cultural views on how to run the company trickled down. He does not believe in work life balance, no matter how many times he says he does. He expects people to work 24/7. Unlike the other leaders and my direct manager, he talks to people in a way that is inappropriate. He does not practice what he preaches and it has started to take a toll on people. I talked to other people that have left recently and the number one reason cited was the CEO. In fact, many of us were torn to have to leave such a great company due to one person. But when that person is at the top, setting the tone, it has a ripple effect. My manager tried to shield me but it was obvious that the demands and the tension were coming from the top.
