Interesting work, poor support

Pros

As a whole people were friendly and the work was interesting, pay was decent.

Cons

Managers were terrible. There was no psychological safety, even with HR. There were also no safe escalation paths for problems because of how small the firm was. Junior staff was lovely, but bogged down and walking on eggshells with most managers.

Pros

- One of the few places to be paid a good salary in the social impact space - Interesting work for meaningful and good causes (e.g., increasing voter turnout, climate adaptation, housing, education)

Cons

- Poorly managed brand - Extremely dysfunctional management/leadership - Leadership made the extremely poor call to pause promotions across the business due to cost cutting measures, communicating a clear lack of value for employees - Benefits are extremely below market

Good place to work

Pros

Interesting and meaningful project work, thoughtful colleagues, good balance of being in the social impact space but also making a decent salary

Cons

Since it's consulting, work is more demanding than other social sector jobs (but pay reflects that well)
