Pros

At Sahara Group, you'll find a dynamic environment that fosters resilience and the ability to multitask across diverse facets of the oil and gas industry. While navigating the challenges of a predominantly Nigerian-owned company, the potential for professional growth is unparalleled. In just five years, you can accumulate experience from a variety of projects spanning multiple businesses, offering exposure and a learning curve that surpasses what one might encounter in a comparable role at a multinational corporation. For ambitious and eager-to-learn individuals willing to navigate the downsides, Sahara Group provides an exceptional opportunity for personal development.

Cons

1. Organizational Structure Challenges: Despite ongoing efforts to improve, the company's youth is reflected in the lack of a robust organizational structure, noticeable in poorly structured departments and business sub-units. 2. Nepotism and Systemic Bias: In certain areas, the company grapples with nepotism and biased practices, where personal connections and political affiliations sometimes overshadow competence, despite recent efforts by certain directors to address these issues. 3. Work-Life Imbalance: The prevalent MAD (Making A Difference) culture, while driving delivery, often sacrifices staff welfare, leading to a challenging work-life balance. 4. Toxic Internal Dynamics: Unhealthy competition and rivalry foster a toxic working environment, hindering collaborative efforts and long-term planning as units struggle to align without the shadow of subtle or open backstabbing. 5. Compensation and Attrition Issues: Poor remuneration, staff benefits, and working conditions contribute to a high attrition rate, making it challenging for the company to retain top talent over the long term as professionals seek appreciation and rewards elsewhere.

Pros

Great work location, well paid if you're happy being mercenary Very intelligent employees Some camaraderie (like soldiers in a war)

Cons

Verbally abusif senior management, zero structure, Zero training, zero career development Passive-aggressive work environment, lots of snitching Toxic, hypocrit culture: management always talking about the "Sahara family", but they're treating employees with zero respect and firing competent people without warning. Every week there is an internal newsletter with the most recent "terminations" from the family. The company owner has a mantra: "Divide and rule". No joke. It's a "hire and fire" company, all simple. Employee loyalty comes from salary and nothing else. Companies who know Sahara see the name as a handicap on the CV
