Great team to work with

Pros

Salesforce consulting is a fast moving ecosystem and one of the things I feel sets this team apart is the willingness of everyone to pitch in on new or complex problems. We support a couple of industries and being able to get help with industry specific topics I've never seen before is essential. I can honestly say I trust the team to give me backup.

Cons

As a boutique firms, at times we have to go outside the organization to supplement our skills. I do feel however that we keep our focus pretty well. We don't just say yes to any project that comes along.

Pros

Note: they go by "Synaptic Advisors" now, but haven't updated GlassDoor yet. * Smallish, "entrepreneurial" company with good partner relationship with Salesforce. * Fairly motivated employee base (as of this writing) * Reliable project pipeline * Historically, work-life balance and employee retention were prioritized over cold business choices. I have talked to multiple long-time and former employees that received exceptional accommodation, but this seems to be an obsolete policy.

Cons

* Family-owned business, which means that family members are hired and promoted independent of merit, and non-family-members are limited in advancement potential * Initiatives to develop better and more consistent project processes and technical collaboration are consistently unfunded, unsupported, and forgotten within a quarter or two. * No respect for experienced technical consultants from management * Over-emphasis on paper performance metrics as required by Salesforce * High turnover of technical and management team, especially experienced and competent leaders * Executive team espouses "transparency", but typically chooses narrative convenience over honest and nurturing employee relationship-building * Employee policies are based on perceived "industry norms" rather than actually listening to what people want * Projected culture of "family" atmosphere is provably false: Senior employees are regularly and predictably laid off with no severance or reasonable notice at the end of Fiscal Quarter or Year * Has been promising to support employee profit-sharing and equity for years, but somehow this is always "in progress" and "more complicated than we thought", even though executives and family members are paid and bonused in shares and options * Payroll frequently delayed to satisfy Accounting needs * Performance Review process is performative and designed for the convenience of management, rather than to support employee development Essentially, this company seems to have been started with good intentions several years ago, but has failed to build the infrastructure required for healthy growth. Since the successful "Youreka" product group split off into its own company, it's just a matter of time before Salesforce or another consulting company makes an offer, and the current execs get to cash out. The best time to get hired was probably 5 years ago.
