Our Malaysia Technology Internship Program (MTIP) reaches out to penultimate university students in Malaysia. We reached out to Zhi Yong, an intern, who shares with us his enriching internship experience. "I was a Software Engineer Intern in the Global eTrade Services of CrimsonLogic who started my journey in March 2020. I was working from home for the most part of my internship due to the COVID-19 outbreak. However, that does not stop me from reaching my goal – to learn as much as possible and experience the working life. In my journey, I have learned a wide variety of IT industry related technical skills and various soft skills from my supervisor and teammates. I enjoy working in my team where we use the Scrum Methodology to ensure efficiency and effectiveness. As part of virtual Annual Staff Conference week, we engaged our local and overseas teams in the Festival of Passion where we got to know each other better through a series of fun activities! Teams were given various tasks to complete, including a cyber collaboration challenge to complete as many quizzes as possible within the given time. All these were done virtually, while still reaching the end objective of bonding with our various colleagues from different team. From our Malaysia office, our intern, Terence, shares his internship experience: "It was a fantastic experience to be surrounded by a team of creative people. It gave me the opportunity to learn new skills and knowledge from them. Throughout my placement, I have had the pleasure of being exposed to different kinds of technologies and tools. In the product team, I was able to be involved in the process of transforming a software requirement into a working feature. This gave me a better perception on the software development life cycle process. The biggest motivation that helps me to excel at the workplace is my colleagues as we learn a lot from each other, having constructive discussion to broaden each other’s perspectives." With everyone still working from the home while we are still in Phase 1, we conducted our first ever Online version of the New Employee Orientation to familiarize our new joiners to the business and culture of CrimsonLogic.
