This March, we feature our ladies in tech. Read on! #CelebrateWomen #IWD2020 Hee Ling had aspired to be a high street fashion designer when she was a young. However, her career took a major turn, and she is now an IT professional, leading the Organizational Excellence (OE) Department in CrimsonLogic. As a Director heading a team of 28, she reflected: “We have only 24 hours a day, thus the ability to fully maximize our time at work is critical. I am unable to do all things by myself, and need to leverage on my team and others to complete the tasks and achieve our goals. Spending substantial amount of time in grooming and coaching people to enable them in their functions has always been my key concern and focus. I believe I can only be an effective leader when I have a team who is capable of doing the job and has the right attitude” Outside of work, Hee Ling adopts an active lifestyle to stay healthy.

As a child, Akshatha was so fascinated with computers that she wanted to become a computer scientist. Today she is on her way to fulfilling that dream as she builds her career as a Lead software engineer in CrimsonLogic solution delivery centre in Bengaluru, India. “Being in a lead role means owning a project and taking on more responsibility. Achieving professional and personal growth in my career, I have learnt to communicate effectively with people who may have a different approach and groom them to bring out the best in them. As a result of frequent interaction with our customers and teammates, my self-confidence had grown much. Finding a balance between family commitments and my career has challenged me to be the best that I can be, both at work and at home. I have mastered the art of being active and playful with my son even after a long day at work.” Akshatha often visits and donates to the old age homes and orphanages. Her hobbies are stamp collections and glass painting. She also enjoys travelling to different countries to experience new places, people and cultures.
In light of the COVID 19 situation, one way to reduce transmission is to reduce face to face contact with our colleagues. How do we carry on collaborating productively as a team and at the company level? Using online conferencing tools like MS TEAMS, Gotomeetings, Zoom, face to face conversations are facilitated and substituted with our online presence, even if both parties are working in the office at the same time. Harnessing the features and power of these digital tools, many department meetings are still being held to keep everyone updated and moving together at the same pace. Most interviews and meetings with vendors are also conducted online as far as possible. Making changes to our working style will go a long way to keep CL #Virusfree. This could not be possible without adapting and using technology to our benefit.

Every woman has a story: This is Justina. As a child, she aspired to be a child psychologist, but ultimately found her calling in tech as an Associate Principal Consultant in the Cyber Security Group. “As a consultant in the Cyber Security Group, I work closely with my team to explore the ever-growing threats and the market needs, looking for new technologies, working with partners to package a solution that meets customers' needs to protect their data, their system and their company. This is a humbling field, just when you think you are getting knowledgeable in an area of cyber security concerns, you will find the threat landscape have changed. Technologies have evolved and there are so many more things you have to learn and relearn.” In her free time, Justina loves to travel with her big family. She also loves to do crafting, from origami, to scrapbooking, calligraphy and colouring. “Doing craft helps me to manage my stress. If the end product looks good, I would give it to someone to make their day!”
