I applied through a recruiter. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Capital One in Mar 2023
Interview
Recruiter screen, followed by a Code Signal coding assessment in the language of your choice. It was two easy Leetcode problems followed by two medium Leetcode problems. I completed 3/4 and that was enough points to get passed on to the final round, their "Power Day." The power day consisted of 4 parts: 1 behavioral, 1 case study, and 2 "technical." The behavioral asked simple STAR questions. The case study was similar to the process described on their website but easier, just walking through a simulation and doing some simple mathematical calculations. After that there was some code debugging. One round of technical was a data engineering system design interview, pretty typical to examples found on YouTube. The other round was coding answers to small problems in a programming language and SQL, all the tasks related to data engineering and databases in general. Overall, a pretty straightforward process. The interviewers were nice and allowed plenty of time for questions. The only downside was that they did not tell me the reasons I was rejected and what I could improve upon.
I wasn’t expecting coding for system design round but they asked me live coding in system design round as well . Prepare ingestion of data from multiple resources.
And focus on pyspark and pandas

Interview
I had a recruiter call last week for a Senior Data Engineer Position. I had prepared well but the only question I was asked is "What's my visa status?"
As soon as, I answered I'm on OPT EAD, he said he can't proceed with my profile further.
I applied online. I interviewed at Capital One in May 2025
Interview
1. Phone screen, rushed in 10 minutes
2. Sent a code test, 4 questions (1 easy, 1 med, 2 hard)
3. Supposedly there would be a follow-up with 4 interviews in a single day, assume I have flunked out ahead of this.

Question 1
Just came on here to gripe about the coding test. For a data engineering job, these code riddles had NOTHING to do with data whatsoever. There were no SQL questions at all.
