I had a very bizarre and ultimately disappointing experience with a recruiter named Zohaib (Korn Ferry) for a Customer Solutions role. The initial red flag was the recruiter’s LinkedIn profile; it had no profile picture and zero work history details, which initially made me concerned that the outreach was a scam. The introductory message was equally vague, providing no clarity on the role and failing to specify whether our initial meeting would be a phone or video call. During the actual interview, the recruiter showed up late. Once he joined, there was incredibly loud background noise on his end that made it difficult to hear or maintain a professional conversation. At the conclusion of the call, I was told I would receive two assessments "shortly" to be completed before meeting the hiring manager. I never received those assessments. After five days of silence, I decided to politely reach out and withdraw my name from candidacy. The recruiter acknowledged my withdrawal and said it was perfectly fine. However, about an hour later, I received a formal rejection email filled with typos and grammatical errors. The email stated that the hiring manager—whom I never even had the chance to speak with—had decided not to move forward. The entire process felt disorganized and unprofessional, which was not at all what I expected from a company of this caliber. It felt like a "ghosting" situation until I forced a conclusion, followed by a very poorly executed automated rejection.
