I applied online. The process took 4 months. I interviewed at Google in Jun 2024
Interview
I interviewed for this role two times, and did 3-4 rounds of interviews for both roles. My Google recruiter was an amazing resource and she helped prepare me. I was rejected by them but appreciated her as a resource for me
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
They ask questions that you need to respond in a STAR format
I had to do the online interview where they test your fit for the job. It is very confusing because you have to answer similarly across differently worded questions. I had never done anything like that before.
I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Google (Dublin, Dublin) in Feb 2021
Interview
Initial "informal" conversation with the recruiter however it isnt really informal I got asked situational questions and proper interview questions such as "if you could use 5 adjectives to describe the skills you have learn to date what would you use?". The first interviewer I spoke to was incredibly rude, didnt smile throughout the whole conversation and was clearly using a script for every single person she met, felt so awkard and not personal then she took several weeks to get back to me with feedback. Second stage was General Cognitive, Googleyness and Leadership and Role related interview... I received an email from the recruiter and someone else with the schedule for my first, second and third interview however when it came to the day turns out it wasnt on the same order they have told me so I ended up having Role related first and Googleyness second on the one day (I must say I wasnt prepare for that) and I explained that to the recruiter to which she gave me a lame excuse. Last interview was general Cognitive and was reshedule last minute (without my ok I must say) and when I replied that unfortunately I wouldn't be available that day at that time the person who resheduled never replied, I followed up and he was OOO so I had to figure out who to contact. On the interviews questions varied depending of the interviewer so theres no way to know what they are going to ask but on role related it was pretty similar to general cognitive lost of hypothetical and product questions of 3 parts each in 45 minutes total (TIP time yourself when practicing and have pen and paper at hand) General Cognitive I felt was shorter but yet again depends on the interviewer who was second guessing my every answer, I didnt feel welcome at all and she didnt really answer any of my questions. After all that work and stress I finally got feedback (fairly quickly I must say so thats good) and yet again the recruiter went through the feedback as if it was a script really not personal at all and made me feel really bad. The second time I was contacted by another recruiter and he was really nice (first time for a change) and positive and told me he would follow up x day when he didnt I waited 2 weeks and sent him a quick email to which he never replied... OVERALL recruiters at Google really need to improve their behavious towards potential talent despite there being a lot of competition if there's a new role that they would contact me about I would definitely be hesitant to apply and put myself through all that again
