The Audio Specialist must be able to execute the audio productions of the church and lead junior audio engineers in fulfilling said roles. He or she will have a passion for audio production, a strong technical background, and a keen ear for sound quality. He or she will play a crucial role in capturing, editing, and enhancing audio elements to meet the highest standards of clarity and creativity.

This role reports directly to the Technical Manager.

RESPONSIBILITIES MAY INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

Recording and Mixing:

• Operate recording equipment during studio sessions, live events, or other audio recording settings.
• Mix and balance sound elements to create a polished and cohesive audio product.

Editing and Mastering:

• Edit recorded audio to ensure seamless transitions, eliminate background noise, and enhance overall sound quality.
• Master final audio tracks for distribution, ensuring consistency and adherence to industry standards.

Equipment Operation:

• Set up, operate, and maintain audio equipment, including microphones, soundboards, amplifiers, and recording devices.
• Troubleshoot technical issues to ensure uninterrupted audio production.

Quality Control:

• Monitor and maintain audio quality throughout the production process, addressing any issues promptly.
• Conduct quality control checks on final audio products to ensure they meet project specifications.

Sound Design:

• Contribute to the design of sound effects and audio elements for various media productions, such as videos, theatrical productions, conferences and seminars.

Collaboration and Others:

• Collaborate with producers, directors, musicians, and other team members to understand project requirements and goals.
• Provide creative input to enhance the overall audio experience.
• Lead, supervise, plan, and facilitate audio setups and productions.
• Coach audio engineers and lay volunteers to mix the audio.
• Be responsible for the audio team’s budgetary, resource planning and inventory management.
• Performing any other general duties as and when assigned.

Requirements:

• Minimum Diploma in Sound or Electrical Engineering (or any other engineering or technical field).
• Relevant professional certification with a good system and audio tuning/calibration knowledge.
• Strong understanding of acoustics, sound theory, and audio signal flow.
• Possess good organisational abilities.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team and communicate effectively.
• Able to work on weekends and be involved in our church services on Sundays (5-day work week).
