Pros

Positive work team, lots of OT available. Typically yearly salary raises in the area of about five percent or so unless there is a economic downturn - then next to nothing. Small yearly profit sharing bonus.

Cons

No advancement opportunities. Generally like being a secretary depending on the department you work for and usually lots of high pressure assignments on a short time frame - occasional requests to work into the night or over a weekend rarely.

Pros

In my 4 plus years with the company, I worked with some great people in my field on a day-to-day basis.

Cons

Upper management was money hungry for themselves, out of touch, and did not care about you as an employee unless you were a share holder. They do not know the staff or the capabilities of their staff. No bonuses or profit sharing. Small % of upper management were share holders.

Thanks for the honest feedback, I'm sorry to hear that you had such a poor experience. It's important that we see this so we can continue to move towards our aspiration of becoming the best in our industry, including in employee engagement and satisfaction. We've been steadily building our incentive package for our staff and believe that we have a robust total compensation package. We've also developed our Recognition by Design program that highlights individuals and teams who positively impact the organization in large or small ways. This program is very well funded and acts as one form of incentive for employees.

Pros

Other younger staff are all feeling similarly burnt out and frustrated, so we’ve been comfortable going to each other for support.

Cons

1. Everyone I work with is burnt out due to being spread too thin. 2. Lack of training for younger employees. 3. Ineffective PMs who don’t actually manage much about a project. Bad scopes resulting in projects easily going over budget. 4. No urgency with replacing engineers who leave. Particularly ones with a specific skillset that the team needs. 5. Lack of quality control (or the QC review is too quick and put off until it’s too late to do a thorough job) 6. Benefits are average when other companies offer far above average. No Christmas bonus. CHA does do spot bonuses for performance but I have not seen them often. 7. Lack of joy and lack of culture. It is hard to feel fulfilled and passionate about work when we don’t do any outings as teams and there’s very minimal office events. Everyone I work with is burnt out and the passion is dying. Turnover risk is high. 8. The company seems to value money and winning jobs over retaining employees and keeping them happy.

Pros

Flexibility to work from home when not traveling.

Cons

Bonuses paid out in July of the following year. No metric for bonuses, in turn bonuses are $20-30k below market average. Bonus potential was not conveyed accurately/truthfully during interview process. Restricted growth/experience due to lack of diversity in clients. No middle management positions. Limited experience. Told in interview traveling would be required 1-2 times per month. In reality, required to travel every week, 2-4 days per week, for years on end. Sometimes through weekends. Not great for family. Limited support staff, not setup like a true construction company.

Pros

very flexible job can establish a good work/life balance

Cons

Not raises, no bonuses, you set goals with achieving nothing from reaching them. Good ole' boy system where it is hard to get promotions unless you are in the circle.

Thank you for leaving us a review, we always appreciate the feedback. I'm happy to see you appreciated and hopefully benefited from our strong compensation philosophy, structured environment, and the diverse markets we serve. While we do not have an annual bonus at the individual contributor level, we do have a robust and well-funded Rewards and Recognition program where our employees can be rewarded for their hard work and contributions. Managing for a company growing as quickly as CHA certainly has its challenges. At CHA we've created leadership development programs to ensure all our leaders have the tools and resources necessary to be the best leader they can be. The time, energy, and resources we put into our programs is not only for our leaders but to ensure our people have an exceptional experience. I'm sorry that was not your experience. I wish you the best of luck with your new employer and hope that you may consider CHA for an opportunity in the future. We are always growing and evolving and finding a better way!

I'm glad you experience the CHA culture the way it is intended to be experienced. Flexible, growth, opportunity! At CHA we value and reward hard work, creative thinking, collaboration and initiative! Admittedly, I'm confused by the cons you've listed above as they seem in direct conflict with your pros. Our culture and structure allow for flexibility and growth - it sounds as if you have experienced that and benefited from it. Perhaps I'm missing something. Happy to meet and discuss so I can understand better where you think we can improve. Just give me a call and lets connect.
