Pros

Good name, nice office in the 69th floor of WTC, good clients.

Cons

Boring repetitive pseudo-creative work that brings little real innovation. Terrible management - top down is an understatement. A bunch of bros that had more luck than skill in getting where they are. Company culture is subpar. It is definitely not a happy place to work. Would definitely not recommend.

Pros

Talented colleagues and fun clients.

Cons

Code and Theory has significant issues that make it a challenging workplace. Leadership is ineffective, leading to poor communication and decision-making problems, resulting in low morale. The work environment is toxic, marked by overwork, lack of support, and office politics, leading to high turnover and dissatisfaction. Professional development opportunities are limited, with a lack of training programs and promotion biases causing talent drain and demotivation. Employees also face unclear terminations, fostering fear and undermining job security. The micromanagement, chaos, and toxic culture driven by senior leadership make it the worst career experience in over 15 years. Deceptive recruitment promises frequent performance reviews and rewards for good work, which never materialize. Toxic management leads to high turnover, opaque firings, and misleading feedback. Despite efforts to improve gender balance, the workplace remains a boys' club, limiting opportunities for female leaders and stifling original thinking.

Hi and thank you for your feedback. I see that you are still here from what it says on your review and I would strongly encourage you to come find me so we can dig into your feedback further. We have a review system where by employees should get formal feedback after 6 months and then 4-6 months after that. We aren't always on time as things get busy but we hope that managers and employees are also checking in frequently to address things in real time so that every employee has someone who support them in their day to day. If this is not happening for you we want to know about it. As for gender balance we are split 50-50% and have recently promoted and hired some incredible senior women. We continue to try and do better and make decisions in service of our business and our talented employees. Please do find me if you can. I can be reached at pamela.delbene@codeandtheory.com - thank you!

Thank you for your feedback. I am glad you enjoy our summer Fridays perks, we love to be able to offer our employees a slightly extended weekend given all of the hard work that is put in during the week! I appreciate your feedback and I know that whenever a colleague is let go it's difficult on the remaining team. We try and be as transparent as we can while also respecting the individual being impacted. We feel that our managers are key to our company and employee success and are rolling out manager trainings, communication training and have one on one coaching sessions with many of our more senior leaders. Misleading feedback can be frustrating so I encourage you to ask for clarity and or come see me or someone on our HR team so that we can help you out and you can have clear feedback and goals (as everyone deserves to have). Thank you again for your note.

Pros

1) completely remote with a nice office in Bengaluru 2) year end shut down

Cons

1) senior leadership in India are very incompetent and uninspiring and keep getting fired every year or so. 2)expect to work 9-11 hours a day, 3) the policy here is to pitch projects with unreasonable time lines and understaff it to maximise profits, they have been doing to for decades and swear by this strategy. 4) hikes are almost always delayed and is average. 5) HR are a bunch of robots Don’t join here unless you need a job urgently.

Pros

One of the best things about working here is the camaraderie across the development teams, including design team and producers. There's a strong sense of teamwork, and everyone is always willing to lend a hand or offer support when needed. The collaboration across departments makes for a great working experience. On top of that, the work-from-anywhere policy and flexible hours are fantastic perks.

Cons

While the company offers great opportunities and benefits, the leadership, particularly the senior management, severely impacts team morale. Instead of using feedback from the US office as an opportunity to improve or motivate her team, she often uses it to criticize and belittle them. Rather than uplifting or supporting her staff, she tends to foster a negative atmosphere. Additionally, she has little respect for people's time, often ignoring the boundaries of work hours, and her responses are often delayed, causing unnecessary bottlenecks and frustration. This has created a toxic environment where employees feel undervalued and overworked, instead of supported and motivated.

Thank you so much for your feedback, we are always looking to get better and I would love to speak to you more directly about your thoughts so that we can really dig in. We love when we are able to offer professional development to all of our employees. Sometimes this comes in the form of a formal program but most of the time it comes from on the job learning, mentoring, coaching and manager engagement with employees. As for termination of employees, I would like to hear more about this. Sometimes when we have to restructure a team a tough business decision needs to be made and when we let someone go for performance we try and make sure clear feedback was given and the employee has a chance to take it in and improve Letting people go is never easy but we do the best we can to make it as respectful as possible to the departing employee.
