TOXIC - HUGE TURNOVER - YELLING

Pros

The Associates and support staff were phenomenal and VERY supportive to one another. No denying that these people work hard and strive to be their absolute best given the work load they are handed and their TOXIC work environment.

Cons

There is a huge turnover at this firm with employees and vendors. The only incentive to work harder or extra at this job is to avoid punishment. A common, well known phrase at this firm amongst everyone is "It's always someone's turn". Taking earned time off always comes with a price and drama. The owner doesn't understand personal boundaries with her staff. Insurance is mediocre and a shared expense with the employer and employee. Be expected to be belittled for the smallest of mistakes and talked about to the entire staff. Also BEWARE, once you leave she will blame everything on you. Previous staff members are blamed for any and all mistakes including things she approved for filing and forwarding. She has a history of going after previous employees/staff/contractors for various reasons.

Work *literally* Anywhere Else

Pros

They throw you right in so you can get good experience if you love a sink-or-swim environment. The staff is amazing. They are, hands down, the best part of the job--just incredible people who work so hard.

Cons

Where do I begin? This is the most passive aggressive environment I have ever worked in and I've worked a lot of jobs. Your supervisor will get upset with something and talk about you to everyone in the office except you and then give you the cold shoulder with no explanation/pull work from you/tell you that you should look into a different career path. This is a common theme--being consistently put down and treated as incompetent. There is little to no feedback on the work you do. It's impossible to improve, as there is zero guidance. When you continuously ask for ways to improve or learn, you are ignored. You're expected to reuse the same old documents over and over again (there is no value in that for baby lawyers). I cannot emphasize enough to work literally anywhere else.

High Employee Turnover for a Reason

Pros

The attorneys themselves are great attorneys that one could learn a lot from.

Cons

Terrible managment, no 401k, no vision, no dental, the insurance is only slightly subsidized and is actually pretty expensive. There is PTO, but it is not looked upon favorably if you take any days even if you are sick. Toxic work environment. Against working from home. Small firm (less than 10) so most laws protecting employees do not apply, which is relied upon heavily here.
