Toxic culture at a dying company

Pros

- The healthcare benefits for US employees is good - Work life balance can be flexible if you are proactive about blocking calendar and declining unnecessary meetings

Cons

- Toxic culture with teams competing against and backstabbing each other, managers thirsting for power and blaming problems on other teams. All this stems from the company having no direction or path toward profitability. - Diversity and Inclusion is a joke. If you are woman or part of LGBTQ+ community, you are not welcomed here. Multiple instances of C-level management mocking a non-binary person for using they/them pronouns. - Very reactive style. You could be working on the most important project in the company one week and then that project is dropped in favor the shiny new thing that some other VP said was important. Projects can't ship because priorities are always changing as they are just throwing everything against the wall and see what sticks. - Got rid of their best perk of monthly days off (whaleness days) and blamed it on employees not being efficient - You are discouraged from taking PTO even though it is "unlimited"

Pros

No pros to list, I have to meet the minimum posting requirements.

Cons

There's a reason the job has been posted for so long. Beware of the management team. Don't let what Docker has to offer cloud your judgement. The work environment is toxic.

Pros

The technology is cool if you're into the Linux and Go cloud infrastructure.

Cons

Management has squandered countless opportunities and wasted hundreds of millions of dollars. They're not real technology people, just sales people trying to shove commercial licenses down big clueless clients. Their goal has always been to flip it, not to create a truly great business.

Pros

I have a good salary and the benefits were great until this year. The dental and vision are horrible but medical is great. Great place to work if you want to get paid to watch YouTube or pull your hair out trying to accomplish even the simplest tasks.

Cons

The c-suite and execs have provided absolutely no guidance on anything other than sales goals, no product roadmaps, no support enhancements, no process improvement efforts... Which is great for sales but does absolutely nothing to give the rest of the organization targets to focus on. Happens every single day that two or three teams find out they've both been working on something and neither fit together, neither's goals met both teams' needs, so both get scrapped. Lots and lots and lots of wasted work effort accompanied by angry and abandoned employees. Upper management has no idea how to use the employees they specifically hired to develop process. They basically skip past them until it's too late and then wonder why ships are sinking left and right. People are running away right now because nothing, and I mean nothing, is going the way it should. C-suite just wants to see sales numbers increase and nothing else matters. I've got an offer on the table and a foot out the door. Couldn't come fast enough. I've wasted a year at this company.

Pros

Competitive pay Remote work flexibility

Cons

A word of caution to those considering or currently navigating this organization: The surface-level camaraderie and lighthearted banter should not be mistaken for genuine support. At the end of the day, this is a highly individualistic environment where self-preservation takes precedence. Do not assume bonuses are guaranteed—senior leadership frequently finds ways to withhold them, often citing vague justifications. The incompetence at the middle and upper management levels is staggering, creating systemic inefficiencies and poor decision-making. HR remains complicit in these issues, continuing a pattern of quiet layoffs under the guise of performance management. This tactic allows the company to avoid publicly acknowledging workforce reductions, bypass severance obligations, and sidestep further blows to already fragile morale. Make no mistake—HR does not act in employees’ best interests. Furthermore, diversity is virtually nonexistent, and the culture is deeply misogynistic. Those expecting an equitable and inclusive workplace will likely be disappointed. Proceed with caution.

Pros

Some great people work here! Values-Driven (on the face of it) Product is genuinely relevant to the Target Market (Developers) Responsive to changes in priorities If your face fits this is a great Company to work for

Cons

Company is very focussed on looking good rather than being good Much is made of the Docker Values - but these are very selectively applied Management does not tolerate ideas they didn't come up with Much is made of how approachable and supportive all levels of Management are - this is not bourne out by the reality Established Teams can be very cliquey Goals and objectives change too frequently

Pros

Great product which is loved by a lot of developers as well as great colleagues. The flexibility to work remotely is a great plus too.

Cons

The company targets and metrics change very often. Seem like no coherent strategy is in place. While there is a culture of open collaboration and everyone and go and comment on your work, at the same time, there is no actual feedback on your work and performance.
