Pros

The technology is cool if you're into the Linux and Go cloud infrastructure.

Cons

Management has squandered countless opportunities and wasted hundreds of millions of dollars. They're not real technology people, just sales people trying to shove commercial licenses down big clueless clients. Their goal has always been to flip it, not to create a truly great business.

Pros

Docker is packed with highly engaged and talented people. There are a lot of challenges to solve and a lot of opportunities along the way. Transparency at the company is high.

Cons

The company is maturing, so naturally we experience pains along the way. Mistakes are being made, as one would expect, but lessons are being learned and I get a sense of leadership aiming for a bright future and open to learn from mistakes made along the way.

Pros

Docker is a fantastic place to work! Employees live the virtues, benefits are very generous, there are flexible work hours and vacation, and the culture is super collaborative and transparent. I love Docker and hope that I can contribute to this company for the foreseeable future!

Cons

Don't have the opportunity to see co-workers face-to-face as much as I'd like, but that's the world of a remote work environment.

Pros

Quick note if you're reading these reviews, leadership had a major change in 2025, very different company since. Docker is a company in the midst of an exciting resurgence—one that’s grounded in real product innovation, market relevance, and strong cultural alignment. The opportunity for growth here is huge, and it's backed by a clear strategy and a leadership team that knows where we’re headed. One of the best things about Docker is the people. It’s a place filled with incredibly smart, motivated, and collaborative teammates who genuinely care about delivering great work—and about helping each other succeed. Since the arrival of new leadership, there’s been a dramatic shift toward alignment and accountability across the business. The “One Docker” culture is real: silos are breaking down, cross-functional collaboration is expected (and supported), and there’s a clear focus on outcomes over optics. The product org is shipping meaningful updates fast, and marketing has stepped up with crisp execution that’s visibly driving impact. If you’re looking for a high-trust environment where strategy meets action—and where you can contribute meaningfully to a company on the rise—Docker is the place.

Cons

Docker has gone through significant transformation over the past several years, and while the company is clearly on an upward trajectory, it’s still maturing in some areas. Some systems are still being built, processes are evolving, and not everything is fully scaled yet. That can create friction or ambiguity at times. This is a great place for people who thrive in fast-moving, high-accountability environments—those who are energized by building structure, not just following it. If you're looking for polished playbooks and a plug-and-play setup, it might feel early. But if you lean into ambiguity and enjoy helping shape how things work, you'll thrive here.

Great team and productive live event

Pros

A great team of people to work with. It's fun to be at a global company that's remote. I'm new and already met some coworkers at a meet-up. Really well organized with good sessions, including an AMA with the executive team that I didn't expect. Everyone was really easy to meet and said good things about Docker so I feel like I made a good decision joining. The organizer of the event was so much fun and made sure we all had what we need.

Cons

More opportunities to get together would be good because I really liked working with people in real life. Everyone is really spaced out so this might be rare. The time zone differences can be challenging. Strong compensation, but not good equity.

Pros

Vibrant and innovative work environment. Opportunities to work on impactful and revolutionary technology. Supportive team culture with highly talented colleagues. Flexibility and autonomy in work schedules. Great opportunities for career growth and skill enhancement.

Cons

The fast-paced nature of the tech industry brings frequent internal process changes. However, this is understandable as it aligns with staying ahead in a competitive space.

Chaotic, but a lot of opportunity

Pros

It's a typical start-up environment with heavy workloads and a lack of efficient processes; however, there are many opportunities here to thrive and influence. It is relatively easy to get your ideas heard and possibly taken seriously if you have enough data to back it up.

Cons

Lack of consistency from leadership, pivot every five seconds.
