- 4.06 Nov 2023Senior Audit AssociateFormer Employee, more than 5 yearsSingapore
Pros
Specific to the banking assurance sector: - Steady career progression (base salary for each rank has been increasing yoy as well) - Team culture, everyone is learning together - Flexiblility - Exposure to senior-level clients - Trains many valuable softskills (talking and presentation, quick-thinking, time management, project management, mentoring) - Team dinners, department cohesions - Great senior managers and partners
Cons
- Expected long hours (peak period 12-3am or occasional once or twice sunrise) - You need some luck in terms of portfolio and team as experience is largely based on clientele + culture set by team's seniors/managers/partners. YMMV
- 2.014 Jun 2023Audit Associate IIFormer Employee
Pros
- Namesake, good for resume - a few good seniors and managers that are understanding and helpful - if bond with batch mates there is chance for lifelong friends - if you are lucky, you might get good guidance and good jobs - if is all about experience can get through 2-3 years
Cons
- Environment sucks, most of the managers do not have empathy and are demanding (was expected of work to be completed while on compassion leave despite another member being on team who was available) - Use staff for the sake of using ( no chance of learning new things, they rather do it themselves than to teach because they feel it is "time-consuming") - admin tasks are overloaded (sometimes super unnecessary) - internal politics, a lot of gossiping even within managers - minority group kind of uncomfortable when working in teams and people are conversing in Chinese (even after being reminded or brought up there is usually no change because sometimes it is even the managers who do this) - if you are one of the unlucky ones then the experience is really bad (there is no support system to lean on) - booking of engagements can get super hectic (understaffed during covid but still expected to complete 5-7 member job with just one associate and one intern)
