Pros

Great place to start a career and learn a lot in a short period of time. The exposure you gain to various companies' processes, cultures, and senior leadership is priceless for a young professional.

Cons

The culture of a large partnership is slow to change and can be difficult to deal with sometimes. The firm still battles with "kingdom-building" in some areas, where partners are absolute rulers; regardless of what the official firm initiative at the time is. Sometimes it feels like decisions are made in a vacuum without any real knowledge about what is going on on the ground, and because we are a private company, the majority of employees have no real idea about how the firm is perfoming financially.

Pros

You get to work with an awesome, highly resilient group of local peers in the advisory practice. The KPMG brand still holds value, but the internal team dynamics have become incredibly fractured.

Cons

We have outsourced 80%+ of our Risk Advisory work, leaving onshore seniors with massive gaps in their experience. As a manager, I am stuck doing senior-level work because I typically have only one or zero local seniors or associates on my teams. The best leaders have already resigned because this model prevents actual management and mentoring. Also, it might take you 30+ years to become partner in Risk Advisory, if at all.
