Pros

It's a big brand that people know about.

Cons

I am compelled to share distressing observations and personal experiences regarding the conduct of our company's senior management, involving multiple partners. A concerning pattern of inappropriate physical interactions has emerged, where senior leadership engages in unsolicited massaging, waist touching, and invasive hand touching while female colleagues use computer mice. These incidents occur publicly within the open office space, suggesting a normalisation of such unacceptable behaviours. Moreover, there is a blatant disregard for professional boundaries, exemplified by senior management referring to overseas KPMG colleagues with demeaning terms. This language not only disrespects but also diminishes the professional contributions of our colleagues, it was borderline racism. The situation is further exacerbated by a noticeable bias towards quite a few senior employees who are seemingly immune from performing meaningful work, creating a culture marred by inefficiency and a lack of accountability. These issues collectively signal a profound lapse in the company's ethical standards and professional conduct, requiring urgent and comprehensive intervention to restore integrity and respect within the workplace.

Pros

Broad exposure in terms of clients Fast-paced working environment allows you to learn many things in a short span of time

Cons

Management does not listen to the staffs' concerns. There is insufficient staff at all levels as company is late to upgrade its technology compared to its competitors, resulting in staff spending a lot of time doing low-value work. Management has been trying to cut cost for years now, resulting in a reluctance to hire new staff and current staff being chronically overloaded. At the same time, majority of the corporate tax teams have a very unpleasant culture that favours staff that rush to impress the management instead of focusing on hard work and helping one another. What began as a few black sheep has evolved into the culture of the entire department, and it is frustrating to find that delivering quality work and putting in the hours are insufficient to even be promoted in this company. Be prepared to get back stabbed if you do not conform to the abovementioned culture. Staff are expected to work on weekends (both days), and it is almost a crime if you even dare leave work before the rest of your team even if you have finished your work for the day. As a result, you will find that staff would rather talk for hours and go for long meals instead of prizing efficiency in their work. Only join if you are prepared to be a part of the bootlicking culture and can handle pushing work to your peers in a bid to rise above them in the eyes of the management. If not, I'd urge you to reconsider.

Pros

Exposure to clients. Yearly promotion.

Cons

Your experience is almost entirely determined on your luck, and unfortunately in audit, luck tends to run dry. You can have bad clients, bad seniors or managers or terrible workload...worse if it is all at once. Politics runs amok and I've seen perfectly decent workers punished over minor mistakes and major screw ups hand waved simply because of favoritism. You cant take leave on busy season, which for some is whole year. Expect to sacrifice all your weekends. Kiss goodbye a decent social life. If you're single, expect to remain single. For the hours you work and pay, this job and industry really isn't worth the trouble and stress and it is not improving any time soon if ever. If you're a fresh grad and struggling to find employment like I was in 2020, take this job only as an absolute last resort. As in, you can't even get a SME job. In the mean time, continue to look for better jobs.
