Pros

Good benefits Good learning ground Good for out of college Some good folks still around...but do not know for how long

Cons

This is as of new KPMG ...after reorg - Terrible promotion process Terrible year end review process Really no value of emploees anymore More and more turning into a sweat shop Requiring folks to work 50 hours a week Aug - Feb (starting this year), used to be Oct - Jan/Feb before The promotion process has become absolutely unfair. The partners are working to cover their own favorites and promote them. Know so many of my experienced colleagues from all grades (Associates, Senior Associates, Manager and Sr. Mgrs) who are just waiting for an opportunity to jump. With rollout of the automated tools, the vision is towards outsourcing alot of audit related jobs.

Pros

It might sound cliche but the Pro for me is the people that I work with. I'm lucky enough to be staffed in a team with great leadership. Managers are actually willing to coach junior members and be a real mentor. I very much appreciate their efforts.

Cons

Long hours and office politics. This is pretty basic and obvious for any public accounting firms. Every time a quarter end, year end, or a special filing is going out, you can expect 10-14 hour days. It might be fine in your early career but it gets really tiring after a few years.
