Pros
Nice Weekly paycheck. Work Monday - Friday. Must be on times and have very good attendance. Great benefits for employee's who have been there for more than a year. Union will have your on certain conflicts if chosen to join local UPS union. Will gain a tougher/ stronger toned upper and lower body after getting past the first few months of getting used to the heavy lifting. Most supervisors are awesome people all around. Basic knowledge and easy work if you follow directions about job. Seniority based company, eventually you will have the opportunity to move up to becoming a part time supervisor or a driver after a few years. All around a great company to work for if you would like to pursue a career as a driver from starting from the bottom of the totem pole, metaphorically speaking.
Cons
Knees, elbows, and back will take a bad toll on the body from the continuous physical labor. Always sore even if you lift and lower boxes correctly. Not a job for the weak physical bodied or for the wining and complaining mentality type of people (get the job done correctly and go home/ go to your daytime job). If you miss load a package on the wrong truck consistently, you will get badgered by it and may have further disciplinary action held on you. If attendance or calling out sick without doctors note consistently, disciplinary action will be held against you. sleep deprived if not getting enough rest once holiday time comes around, while working double the amount of hours. Possibility to not getting payed over time when peak holiday comes around. part time and full time supervisors will get under your skin if you let it happen or have a short fuse and cant control your anger. make sure to check in with Human Resources about seniority date about signing a seniority bid list for going to drivers school if pursuing a further career becoming a full time driver. If not, then you might get skipped and will have to go to the union rep to ask to sing a grievance paper against the other coworker who had a seniority date underneath yours that went to a higher position before you.
