Pros
Decent health care benefits, but not as good as it was a several years ago. Education, if you are a union employee. A part time union employee can get a Masters, a non-union employee has to be a supervisor or higher to tuition re-imbursement for a Masters.
Cons
Constant consolidation is reducing the number of management positions available. Over the last five years, the salary increases have been around 2%. Promotions are based on how well you kiss up to management. Workload is constantly increasing with no overtime allowed. With all of the consolidation and reduction in staff, the work has to be dumped on someone. Management has a "do as I say and not as I do" attitude. Extreme micro-management, if you are the independent type, your independence will be squashed.
