Pros
ICs are great and you'll enjoy the colleagues. The product marketing team is very collaborative. People at Uber are generally top of their field and very brilliant. Brief review is an excellent way to get feedback and deepen your strategic chops in product marketing. Breakfast and lunch are free (even though the food is mid). Having Uber on your resume will open doors when you're ready to leave.
Cons
You won't always receive budget to work on campaigns that are supposed to be priorities for the business. Lots of BS work. You'll spend as much time making repetitive internal decks and presentations as you spend doing actual marketing work. In 2025 alone, I was tasked with packaging the same information into 4 different decks with different formats. Your manager, who doesn't do any actual product marketing, will tell you that it's important for leadership. It's not. They will maybe look at it once and then never again. Heavy meeting culture. The company is pushing full RTO within a year even though office is already functioning above capacity. Pay isn't all that competitive anymore. Colleagues are very burned out and work on weekends and vacation. Somewhat political--people will go behind your back.
